"Sentō":ふくの湯
Sentō (銭湯) is a type of Japanese communal bathhouse where customers pay for entrance.
Different from "Onsen" (hot spring), Sentōs have been decreasing in numbers as more and more Japanese residences now have baths. However, we found out that it is very social important.
Beginning in the morning, it is good to go to the amusement park in "Korakuen". Taking the roller coaster and rest in LaQua, a relaxation center that offers one-of-a-kind shopping and dining.
After that, you can take the "Nanboku sen" and head to the sentō!!
We foreigners usually travel to a spot and enjoy hot spring which is recommended by official guide book. We rarely know that similar places are many in Tokyo that we can enjoy hot spring and at the same time have conversation with local residents.
During the time in ふくの湯 (Fuku no yu), we International students had great and deep conversation with Japanese students. Also, we enjoyed that place with red Fuji mountain drawing, colorful work gracing its walls, ceilings and on the wooden panels. That was such a wonderful place, which we students deepened our relationships and decided to go together again, that we truly recommend readers to join WBS IMBA × JMBA tour and check it out!!
